Sales Tax

A 6.25% state sales tax and a 2% city sales tax comprise Yoakum's 8.25% rate. Texas is one of seven states that does not have an individual income tax.
State Franchise Tax
$2.50 per $1,000 of capital or 4.5% of earned surplus (greater of the two).
Motor Fuels Tax
The state tax rate on gasoline is 20 cents per gallon (19 cents for transit companies) and 20 cents per gallon on diesel fuel (19.5 cents for transit companies). The tax rate on liquefied gas Is 15 cents per gallon.
